Time: Approx: 9:00 p.m.

Brian, my wife and I were enjoying sitting around the fire ring in our backyard in Westlake when we saw the red/orange lights you described. I believe the count was closer to 30 - 35 of the things. Called my neighbor out, and she watched them with us. We heard no sound, they moved from the direction of Hopkins/NASA (located south of our home) at a fairly determined, steady clip north towards the lake (we lost site when they passed behind other trees in our yard).

I was surprised to have heard/seen nothing about this in the news/internet until my wife chanced upon your blog. I have already written Mark Johnson at News 5 (to inquire about the possibility he knew of some sort of weather balloons being launched from Hopkins?) as well as a friend who works at NASA (to see if they were sending any experiments up). All I know so far is that NASA had nothing to do with it.

The Chinese lantern explanation seems the most plausible, except that what little wind we felt was moving the smoke from our fire away from the lake - course, who knows what the wind was doing up there in the night sky.

Vike, first time seen, and now I believe. 20 orange-red lights moving from southwest to northeast. I was with my wife and friends, 8 of us total and we looked up and saw approximately 20 lights, what looked to me about 1,000 feet in the air moving at a quick pace. Some a little faster than the others and they were kind of in a straight-ish line. this was at 9:01 p.m. October 23, 2010 last night.

I being of sound mind don``t believe for one second that they were Chinese lanterns as the Westlake cops say it simply is not true. I have a crappy picture on my my camera I will try to send you. Wow never thought I would be ever telling this story Thanks for the ear.

I also saw these 20 some red orange lights in the sky over Westlake, Ohio. I've never seen anything like it! They all flew in a line and some seemed to turn away from the line and head off in a different direction. I'd really like to know what this was. I am a skeptic of these things generally but this was pretty weird. Thank you!

I am in Westlake Ohio and at 9:05pm I witnessed at least 20 orange balls of light flying in the sky. All were flying fairly fast and coming out of the south going southeast.

My neighbor and I watched all of them, they appear to just vanished after a point. It was all very exciting! Do you know what they are? Please email me at (email address removed) Thank you.
