WAIT IN LINE, BUT DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH!

Legal residents are last in line for federal housing:

There are many thousands of illegal immigrants living in public housing, this at a time when hundreds of thousands of legal citizens are stuck waiting for years for a spot.

According to government statistics (if you can even believe any statistics coming from the government these days) illegal immigrants only make up a very tiny percent of the 7.1 million people living in federal housing. However, as in the case of the left hand being unaware of what the right hand is doing, authorities are completely unaware of thousands more illegals who are actually living in government subsidized housing, and by rights, no illegal immigrant should be government tax-payer housing benefits or any other tax-payer supported benefits. This issue made headlines back in November when it came to light that Zeituni Onyango, an aunt of President-elect Barack Obama, was living in Boston public housing while in the country illegally.

According to the requirements of the federal government, which funds the lion's share of Americas public housing, illegal immigrants must share the home with at least one family member who is in the country legally and pay their share of the rent (I wonder if a pregnant woman who enters the country illegally, and then has her baby here {which the government says makes the baby a legal citizen} counts toward fulfilling this requirement?).

Although there are no hard numbers on illegal immigrants living in public housing, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that 29,570 people - 0.4 percent of all those who are living in federally funded housing - are "ineligible non citizens"

Aha! The answer to my above question: according to Frank Bean, the director of the University of California, Irvine Center for Research on Immigration, Population and Public Policy, at least half of the ineligible non citizens - approximately 15,000 - are illegal immigrants with U.S. born spawn. Anyone born on U.S. soil (a law that NEEDS changing) is automatically a citizen, which makes their families eligible for federal housing.

Federal government figures do not give an accurate figure on how many illegals are occupying public housing, because those figures do not include housing that is funded by state and local governments, because eligibilty requirements vary. For instance, in Massachusetts, where Obama's aunt parked her butt in one of the 50,000 state funded units, doesn't ask immigration status due to a 1977 federal consent decree in a class-action law suit that prohibits the state from denying benefits to illegal immigrants (thus you see another fine example of how our government is screwing over the American tax-paying citizens). Of course, there are other illegal immigrants living in public housing without notifying authorities.

Don't you think that there is something very wrong about U.S. citizens waiting years for public housing assistance while a large number of illegal immigrants are enjoying that benefit ahead of legal citizens?

Please don't expect this situation to change anytime soon, especially under the Democrats and the Obamassiah administration. Onyango, the half-sister of Obama's now deceased Kenyan father, ap[plied for public housing in 2002, while she was here legally seeking asylum from her native Kenya, according to Lydia Agro, spokeswoman for the Boston Housing Authority, which has a waiting list of about 20,000 people.

Onyango then moved into federally funded housing in 2003 and stayed there after 2004, when, according to the Associated Press, an immigration judge denied her asylum application and ordered her to leave the country. Instead of complying with the court order, she transferred to an apartment funded by the state, which is prohibited to ask about immigration status under court order. Oyango is still living in the U.S., claiming to be staying with relatives in Cleveland and is planning to fight her deportation order (how much do you want to bet that she wins, especially since her nephew will be President?).

You can count on it, that the shafting of the American citizens will continue unabated and will even get worse now that the Democrats hold all the power.
