After all of the hoopla over the passing of the false idol, Michael Jackson, I felt that the following would be a breath of fresh air. It is something that I found over at my friend Pam's blog "Midnight Musings". It is a bit long, but well worth watching.

It is a video tribute to a true American hero, Sergeant First Class John C. Beale, who was killed in action.

Following his death, Sgt. Beale's body was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City, Georgia, on June 11, 2009. His body was escorted in a procession to the funeral home in McDonough, Georgia by the Henry County Police Department.

What surprised authorities was the number of people who showed up to pay their respects, all along the motorcade route. People were lined up for miles to pay tribute to one of our fallen heroes. This surprised the authorities because only a simple notice was placed in local papers that indicated the road route to be taken, along with the approximate time.

This restores our faith and belief that there are many people in many places here in America where folks still recognize and honor the courage and impact of total self-sacrifice. Georgia is one of those places.

The video is a short (approximately 12 min.) travelogue of that sad but remarkable journey home of a true hero. Only watch the video if you are willing to have some of your faith in people restored. Please share this with others. Click on the following link:
