The Real United States Endorses: Karen Harrington candidate for congress in Florida's 20th District.

Small business owner. Friend. Cancer survivor.
Karen's roots in the community date back to 1969 when her parents Bill "Mitch" and Barbara Mitchell moved their family from Western Massachusetts to South Florida as a result of poor economic conditions. She and her family have owned and operated Rickey's Restaurant and Lounge since 1974, and Karen has managed the business for almost 30 years.
Residing in Davie, Karen is an honor graduate of South Broward High School, and went on to Broward Community College before she left school early to help her family expand its business.
She is an active member of her community, playing in a women's soccer league, and has sat on the boards of local non-profit organizations. Through her small business, Karen has given back to the community by sponsoring hundreds of youth and adult programs for the past 36 years. She has also sponsored the Police Athletic League in Pembroke Pines, has raised thousands of dollars in order to build a basketball court for youth sports and after school programs so local children will have a place to play in a safe environment.
Karen and her husband Glenn have three children, sons Ryan and Kyle, and daughter Ashley who is married to their son-in-law Kurt Weaver. They have two grandchildren, Dylan and newborn Kayleigh. Karen has been active in the lives of her children and family, coaching their soccer teams and participating in scholastic activities.
As a two-time cancer survivor, Karen is familiar with the benefits and shortcomings in the American healthcare system.
Karen is seeking to fill the people's seat in Florida's 20th Congressional District.
