By now, most if not all of you, know that on June 3, 2009, Barack Obama signed a proclamation declaring June to be LBGT Celebration month. How touching. But here is something that I bet most of you did not know, June 3rd is also the commemoration of the martyrdom of Saint Charles Lwanga and his companions. Why is this important you ask? Read on and find out.
There are many today who believe that the faith and zeal that marked the first Christians has gone the way of the Andean Condor, as Christianity became more acceptable over the centuries, however, what the brave martyrs of Uganda faced should serve as a vivid reminder that the persecution of Christians is alive and well in modern times, even in our present day, however in more subtle ways at this time.
In the 1860's, Uganda was under the tyrannical, iron fisted rule of King Mwanga who was a notorious sodomite and pedophile who kept a household of boys and young men for his sexual pleasure. He violently forced himself on the young boys and men who served him as pages and attendants. When Joseph Mkasa, the King's Christian steward, dared to rebuke the king, King Mwanga had him beheaded. Following the death of Mkasa, Charles Lwanga, who was head of the king's household, stepped up and tried to protect the boys at court and instruct them in the Christian faith. Eventually, King Mwanga found out what was going on and he ordered that all of them be killed. This horrendous martyrdom took place on June 3, 1886.

The fact that Barack Hussein Obama has shamelessly declared, on June 3, 2009, the month of June to be LBGT Celebration Month makes the horrific martyrdom of Charles Lwanga and his numerous companions all the more ironic. Just think about it, on June 3, 1886 an African saint and his brave young companions died to preserve purity and to take a stand against pedophilia, euphebophilia and sodomy, while today an African American President of the United States declares the whole month in which Americans are supposed to celebrate and take pride in not just sodomy but lesbianism, bi-sexuality and transgenderism.
The utter depravity and decadence of nineteenth century Uganda led to violenece, torture and death for those who stood against it. In today's depraved and decadent society, right here in the United States, if you dare to believe that fornication, co-habitation, abortion, lesbianism, homosexuality, sodomy, pedophilia, transvestitism, transgenderism and all the rest of a whole long list of sexual disordered, perverted and diviant behaviors are wrong, and if you dare to stand up for sexual purity and traditional marriage, for life, faith and goodness, you may not be tortured and killed, (at least not yet, but that day is coming) but you will be labled as a bigot, homophobe and a purveyor of hate.
I can only ask that St. Charles Lwanga pray for us and give all Christians, Catholic and Protestant, the spiritual, physical and moral courage to stand firm for their faith and the teachings found in Holy Scripture in the face of the moral and spiritual evil that we are bombarded with today.
