Date: December 29, 2010
Time: Approx: 8:30 p.m.Island of Kauai HI. (above Kapaa) 12/29/10 approximately 8:30pm, northeastern sky. My girlfriend and I were returning to our home after having dinner. When we walked up the stairs to our Lanai, I noticed what at first appeared to be the streetlight across the street.
As I stopped to look, this elongated octagon shape was moving from west to east across the sky. This geometric shape had what appeared to be orange/yellow lights that were pulsating around the perimeter of the shape.
The object was approximately 1000 - 3000 feet above the ground and was moving extremely slowly across the sky. The object paused or hovered and began to move upward in the sky. It then moved down and across to the West retracing it's previous path. I attempted to take a
picture with my cell phone, but couldn't get it to work in the dark.
The object then seemed to drop slowly and disappeared into a cloud. The object was visible for approximately 3 - 5 minutes. After it disappeared into the cloud we went into the house, and it proceeded to rain very heavy. After the rain stopped, we went back outside, but there was no trace of the object.
