Yes Virginia_Part X
Tomorrow, many of us will be gathered with family, friends and loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving, a holiday begun by the early settlers to express their gratitude to God for making it safely to shore and for the help of the natives who helped them in obtaining a bountiful harvest.
Thanksgiving was patterned after the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles. The Jews of ancient Israel would gather in Jerusalem each fall to commemorate the time God had spent with them in the wilderness and to give thanks for another good harvest. Throughout the year they saved up their tithes, the first born of their flocks and herds, the first sheaves of grain, the first grapes, figs, olives and other fruit and vegetables and brought it with them to Jerusalem where they cooked and ate it as a group in a national celebration of praise.
The first settlers on the shores of what would become the United States of America, the greatest nation in the world, after surviving a very difficult year in the new world, the Pilgrims of New England instituted a similar, though much smaller, thanksgiving feast with the intent of praising God.
I would like each of you to take a moment to realize that even though you worked hard all year, it was the Lord who has given you the strength and ability to work and earn a living, and created opportunities for you.
Many of us have lost jobs, homes, savings, etc., but we still have our lives and our loved ones. We MUST still remember to thank God for what we do have and ask for His forgiveness for having strayed from His Laws, His Commandments. It is not too late, we can still save our nation and once again enjoy the blessings that God had bestowed upon us. So on this Thanksgiving Day, won't you please join hands with your loved ones and give praise and thanksgiving to God and beg His forgiveness and mercy upon you, your family and America, for as it is written;
"If My people which are called by My name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
II Chron. 7:14
MAY YOU ALL HAVE A VERY BLESSED, SAFE, HAPPY and GOD FILLED THANKSGIVING.
