YES, I DO HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE OF MY BLOG. . . .
And here is a small portion of it. The following are some pictures of a fire last night, that started in the woods right across from the apartment complex where I live. It started when a couple of smart ass teens decided to throw a handful of lit firecrackers into the woods.
Since I didn't grab my camera soon enough, these pictures do not do the fire justice, since the flames were seven times higher fifteen minutes before the Volunteer Fire Department arrived. In some places, the flames actually reached to the very tops of some fifty to seventy foot tall trees.
The fire started around 9:00 p.m. last night and was brought under control around 1:00 a.m. At about 8:30 a.m. this morning, I went out to walk my dog "Munchkin" and noticed that the fire had flared back up, so I called 9ll and had them send the fire trucks back. It actually end up flaring up in different spots about three times throughout the day and was finally put to rest at 5:00 p.m. this evening.
TOTAL DAMAGE: three and a quarter acres of trees and underbrush burned; 1 deer and 1 fawn killed; twenty-two very tired and hot volunteer firefighters; twenty-five very excited children; and finally, one very grumpy looking bishop (good heavens, yes, that's me in the last picture).
