Hey people's it's me "Munchkin" and I am back. My Daddy is in need of a break from all of the Obama madness, so it is up to little ol' me to pick up the slack, so here it goes.
With a few exceptions, the following just about says it all.
Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know that we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.
However, upon reflection, we would like to point out it was NOT the senior citizens who took:
The melody out of music;
The pride out of appearance;
The courtesy out of driving;
The romance out of love;
The commitment out of marriage;
The responsibility out of parenthood;
The togetherness out of family;
The learning out of education;
The service out of patriotism;
The Golden Rule from rulers;
The civility out of behavior;
The refinement out of language;
The dedication out of employment;
The prudence out of spending;
The ambition out of achievement;
And we certainly are not the ones who eliminated patients and tolerance from personal relationships and interactions with others.
And we do understand the meaning of patriotism, and remember those who have fought and died for our country.
How many under the age of 50 remember the words to the Star Spangled Banner?
Just look at the number of seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand at attention with their hand over their hearts.
Yea, you got it, my Daddy and I are senior citizens and we are the life of the party....even if it lasts until 8:00 pm.
My Daddy is very good at opening a childproof bottle with a hammer, and we are usually interested in going home before we get to where we are going.
We are both awake many hours before our bodies allow us to get up. My Daddy smiles all the time because he can't hear a word you are saying, and he is an expert in telling the same story over and over and over again.
My Daddy is also well aware that other people's grandchildren are not nearly as cute as his. He is so cared for -- long term care, eye care, private care, dental care.
He is not really grouchy, he just can't stand traffic, waiting in long lines, crowds, lawyers, unruly kids, Toyota commercials, Chris Matthews, Obama, or liberals who don't know when to shut up, and a few other things that he can't remember right now.
He is wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that is just his left leg. Both of us are just beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.
Daddy is a walking storeroom of facts and knowledge, but he just lost the key to the storeroom.
