When Things Become Too Much To Bear, Don't Just Scream Your Arse Off!
This is the bridge on the Old Donner Pass Highway. It provides a spectacular view of Donner Lake and Donner Pass on Route 80. You can click on each pisture to enlargen.
A bear was taking a stroll across Rainbow Bridge (Old Hwy. 40) over at Donner Summit, when two cars crossing the bridge scared the bejeebers out of the bear, causing it to jump over the edge of the bridge.
Somehow the bear managed to grab hold of the ledge and pull itself to safety, (somewhat).
Now, being a Saturday night, the authorities figured there was nothing they could do to help
the bear until the next day, Sunday morning.
Now, being a Saturday night, the authorities figured there was nothing they could do to help
the bear until the next day, Sunday morning.
Well, when they returned the next day, they found the bear fast asleep on the ledge. So, as the bear snoozed away, the rescuers set to work rigging a net under the bridge.
After securing the net, they shot a tranquilizer dart into the bear between the shoulders, causing it to fall from the ledge into the net.
They then lowered the net and the bear safely to the ground below
Where the bear walked off without so much as a "by-your-leave," so much for gratitude.
There is a moral to this story you know:
This old bear made a wrong move and found himself hanging on by his nails. After managing to pull himself up to the safety of the ledge, he found himself in a very bad and impossible situation, so what did he do? Yup, he took himself a nap and lo and behold, the impossible situation took care of itself while he slept.
So,
The moral of the story is when you find yourself confronted with a bad situation, sometimes the best course of action is. . . .
TAKE A NAP!
