I SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED!

"Is a fly without wings called a walk?"

HAVE YOU EVER HAD ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHERE YOU FELT YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED? HOW ABOUT THREE SUCH DAYS IN A ROW?

I JUST WENT THROUGH THREE SUCH DAYS, AND NOW I NEED TO TAKE A BOTTLE OF ASPIRIN AND CALL MY SELF IN THE MORNING.

LET ME EXPLAIN:

As most of you know, last July, someone tampered with my car two days after my son bought it for me at an auction. The perp removed the driver's side hub cap, removed ALL of the lug nuts and replaced the hub cap, thus concealing the fact that the lug nuts had been removed. Then the perp punched five holes into my gas tank. Well, believe it or not, it took me all the way from July 2008 until last Wednesday to save up enough money to buy a new gas tank for my car, as being on Social Security, I am on a very limited budget.

Any how, last Wednesday, January 28th, I finally had enough money and found a store that had one, the location of the store was 20 miles from my home, which meant a 40 mile round trip drive. Just to add interest to the trip, we were smack in the middle of one heck of a blinding snowstorm which meant that I could drive no faster than 15 mph. to keep my car on the road. Now, some of you may ask why I couldn't wait until the next day. Well if I did, I could have lost out on getting the tank because they told me that there was another person who also wanted it, and it would be first come first serve. My car is a 1993 Mazda Protege and those gas tanks are hard to come by.

Well, I made it to the store, paid the $165.00 for the tank and returned home. When I got back home, I called my son to let him know I got the tank. He told me to bring the car to his shop on Monday morning (Feb. 2nd) and he would install it. Now here is where it gets good.

My son installed the new gas tank free of charge, which was a two and a half hour job
. When he finished, we gave each other a hug and kiss good-bye (yes, my grown sons and I still hug and kiss) and I left for home, just as happy as could be.

Then lo and behold, just when I was about 1 mile from home, my breaks went out completly and I almost did a head-on with a rather large tree. Thankfully, God took control and I avoided the tree by mere inches. I made it home by use of the emergency hand break, and parked the car. The next day, yesterday (Feb. 3rd) I had to call a tow truck to tow me back to my son's shop, which ended up costing me $65.00. My son had to replace the entire break line, once again at no charge.
When he finshed, we sat around chatting for about 15 minutes over a cup of coffee, then another hug and kiss good-bye and I was on my way home again.

I took the expressway for the ten mile trip. Are you ready for this? Two and a half miles from my exit, my main belt that operates the alternator and the water pump decided to snap, leaving me with no heat in the car and no way to charge up the battery, so once again this morning it was off to my son's shop. I had to take the non expressway route which added an extra 6 miles to the trip, since I had no money left for towing. With no heat in the car, I had to stop every two miles to scrape the frost off of the inside of the windshield, also to allow the radiator to cool down.

I made it to my son's in one piece and once again, he made the needed repair free of charge. And then he took me out for breakfast. If it weren't for him, it just wouldn't have been worth it to get out of bed. Thank God for sons like that.
